Freestanding or built-in: choosing a fireplace during design
At a glance
Start with the role of the fireplace in the room. A freestanding appliance presents its body as an object; a built-in fireplace connects the viewing opening with the surrounding elevation. Both need model-specific documentation and site assessment.
Describe the spatial intent
Gather a floor plan, photographs of the proposed area and references. Discuss whether the focus is gathering around an object or incorporating fire into an elevation. Record seating, circulation and intended use; assess installation separately.
Compare the same information
Use a consistent checklist: spatial scale, available documentation, site suitability, operation, maintenance and the complete project scope. Appliance images and purchase prices alone do not describe a complete installation.
Identify the model
FINDER separates series, individual products and original models. The current NOVA product is identified by BC404. VISTA corresponds to the C family, with individual models to follow. STARK 01, 02 and 03 correspond to K0134, Z0827 and Z0802. Series positioning does not replace model-specific documentation.
Validate the direction
Share the plans and model names with your designer and installation assessor. Ask for the missing information, unresolved interfaces and confirmation sequence before finalising the choice.

Common questions
Is freestanding always easier to install?
Not necessarily. The flue route, building conditions and model requirements affect the actual plan.
Can room area alone determine the choice?
Area is useful brief information, but does not replace assessment of the building, intended use and technical documentation.
