Project planning

Preparing a fireplace project brief before renovation

At a glance

Start with the location, building type, project stage, floor plan, site photographs and preferred products. Separate confirmed information from open questions so that designers, product contacts and installers can work from the same brief.

Project and intended use

Describe the location, building, design stage, intended use and main contact. State whether a budget covers only the appliance or the complete project, including materials and installation.

Verifiable site information

Prepare available plans and information about the proposed location, ceiling height and surrounding materials. Include any existing flue documentation; list unknown conditions for assessment rather than guessing technical details.

Coordination responsibilities

Record who coordinates design, product information, installation and adjacent construction. Identify who confirms dimensions, interfaces, finishes, handover and operating documentation. Assign unresolved responsibilities before the relevant project stage.

Version the brief

Date the drawings and brief, and record the product name and document revision. Share revised information with all relevant participants when the plan changes.

Common questions

Can I enquire without a complete drawing set?

Yes. Share what is available and identify what is missing. An initial discussion does not establish installation feasibility.

Does this replace the installation manual?

No. It is a FINDER project communication checklist, not an installation guide.

References and scope

External references illustrate documentation or service communication and may describe overseas markets. They do not establish FINDER model requirements, a commercial affiliation or local regulatory requirements.
